Electric Soul and Analog Fire: The All’s Eye Strikes Deep with ‘Saturday Sessions’

The All’s Eye’s newest EP ‘Saturday Sessions’ maintains a straightforward and unpretentious approach because it stands as it is. The two-track live recording from Barbershop Studios captures a genuine sound for Matt Rifino’s Emmy-winning series with its raw and unfiltered warmth. The trio of Ari Joshua (guitar), Ben Atkind (drums), and Kris Yunker (organ) generate their musical power through strong chemistry and live performance energy. Every musician contributes a powerful element to their performances. Ari Joshua delivers smooth yet fearless guitar tones while Ben Atkind showcases tight and unpredictable drumming skills and Kris Yunker infuses his organ playing with both gritty and soulful elements. The band members gained their experience touring through their work with projects GOOSE, Bearly Dead, and Elephant Proof and this dedication to their craft demonstrates their ability to listen and create together in the moment.

The All’s Eye

The first track, “Gramama”, hits differently. It’s not just music—it feels like memory. Ari Joshua draws from his deep personal history to write this song in tribute to his late Granny Queenie while the gospel rhythm carries a powerful chugging beat. The song opens with a striking lyric that catches you off guard: The days about which I covid appear lucid and beloved as they start to evolve into something spiritual. A listener can detect both pain and resilience in the music. The organ sounds spiritual like a church but holds a vibrant life force without preaching. The track maintains listener engagement throughout its duration by combining groove with vulnerability.

“Say What You Wanna Say” arrives and instantly changes the momentum. The boogaloo concept develops into heavier musical territory in this track. The psych-rock edge of the trio combined with their jazz-influenced breaks creates a wild sound. The music is more chaotic than “Gramama” but that reflects its intention of expressing freedom. No one’s holding back here. Kris unleashes a free-form keyboard performance while Ben maintains an unpredictable tempo and Ari’s guitar produces fiery sonic hues. This track expresses itself best through live performance and this rendition validates that reality. ‘Saturday Sessions’ contains only two tracks that deliver substantial content. The track doesn’t aim for perfection because its honesty creates its appeal.
