Talking Heads’ Stop Making Sense: The Expanded Reissue
In a surprising turn, the former members of Talking Heads reunited last September to promote the 40th anniversary reissue of their iconic concert film *Stop Making Sense*, directed by Jonathan Demme. This deluxe reissue, available in double vinyl, CD, and Blu-ray formats, features remastered audio that captures the band’s energy with pristine clarity.
While the film and album are familiar to most fans, this reissue offers a fresh experience of Talking Heads at their avant-rock peak, blending mainstream success with distinctive style and groove. David Byrne’s solo performances of “Psycho Killer” and “Heaven” have become definitive versions, while the full-band renditions of “Burning Down The House” and “Girlfriend Is Better” showcase their infectious disco-funk flair.
The expanded edition also restores two tracks previously missing, including a lively version of “Cities” and a combination of Byrne’s “Big Business” and “I Zimbra.” Although not a flawless live album, this reissue comes close, providing a vibrant snapshot of Talking Heads at their most dynamic.
